Antique Moroccan Jewelled Metal 1903 Coin Belt | Bohemian Accessory

A very fascinating antique belt of Moroccan origin. Made from a chain of metal coins with replica jewels and Arabic inscriptions, it is most likely an early 20th century piece. The coins are perhaps imitations – it was traditional practice to make decorate clothing from imitation currency – however, we haven't tested them or had them examined professionally. The coins say 1321, which would be the Islamic Hijri date, roughly about 1903–1904 AD.  This belt will add the finishing touch to so many outfits. A beautiful historical work of art, this antique belt is just perfect for someone with a bohemian sense of fashion, whilst also being an opportunity to own a piece of North African history.

In beautiful antique condition and still fastens perfectly. It has one of the hanging smaller jewelled coins missing.
